Richard J. Malcolm is a seasoned labor leader and ironworker with decades of experience in the construction industry and union leadership. He began his career as a Journeyman Ironworker with Local #480, serving from 1995 to 2011, where he advanced to roles as a Foreman and Superintendent on major industrial and commercial projects throughout New Jersey, including Merck, Linden Powerhouse, and Hudson Generating. A certified welder with OSHA 30 (Subpart R), scaffolding, and lead abatement training, Richard combines strong technical expertise with hands-on field experience.

Throughout his career, Richard has held numerous leadership positions, including Business Manager, Business Agent, President, Vice President, Trustee, and Executive Board Member for Local #480, and currently serves as a Business Agent for Ironworkers Local #11. In addition to his union leadership, he has been actively involved in several committees and community organizations, including the District Council of Northern New Jersey Ironworkers, Joint Apprentice Committee, Union County Central Labor Council, and Union County College Board of Governors, as well as local planning, zoning, and recreation boards. He currently serves as the President of the Union County Building Trades. Richard’s career reflects a deep commitment to workforce development, organized labor, and community engagement.
